Visit to the Concert Performance of the Sofia Philharmonic and World-Renowned Tenor Juan Diego Flórez (15 January 2021, Hall 1, National Palace of Culture)

The members of President's Club Bulgaria were witnesses to one of the most significant cultural events of the year, the concert of tenor Juan Diego Flórez with the Sofia Philharmonic under the baton of Christopher Franklin. This was the tenor's first appearance in Bulgaria.
Juan Diego Flórez is considered one of the finest lyric tenors in the world, and Pavarotti himself, during his lifetime, described him as his successor. With a career on the world's most prestigious stages, he has established himself as one of the greatest talents in opera with his expressive vocal style. The Peruvian tenor is a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. He is convinced that amid the Covid pandemic, the arts are exceptionally necessary.
He began studying at the conservatory in Lima, Peru at the age of 17, and his initial intention was to pursue popular music, but his professors discovered that he had the voice of an opera singer and directed him toward classical music. Between 1993 and 1996, he was a student in Philadelphia. He broke through on the professional stage in 1996. At the age of 23, he made his debut on the stage of La Scala. He has performed in roles from operas by Donizetti, Rossini, Mozart, Puccini, Bellini, and others.
