On 20 April 2021, Assoc. Prof. Dr Atanas Mangarov was a guest of President's Club.

Mr Mangarov graduated from the I. P. Pavlov Higher Medical Institute in Plovdiv, and between 1983 and 1986 was a full-time doctoral student at the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Medical Academy, Sofia. He defended a dissertation entitled "Contemporary Rehydration Therapy in Acute Intestinal Infections in Infancy and Early Childhood" and obtained the scientific degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences. The results of his dissertation on rehydration in intestinal infections are used throughout the country. When he began work at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in 1983, 25–30 children were dying there each year, but over the years fatal cases decreased more than tenfold. The therapy he developed is known as "Mangarov's bank".

Assoc. Prof. Mangarov has a rich professional career. He has worked at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, Sofia; the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Medical Academy; and since 2010 has been Associate Professor at the Department of Infectious Diseases, Parasitology and Tropical Medicine; Head of the 1st Children's Department with an Intensive Care Unit; Head of the Clinic of Paediatric Infectious Diseases; Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Parasitology and Tropical Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical University, Sofia.

He actively participates in the organisation of numerous international medical forums and events.

Before the members of the club, Assoc. Prof. Dr Mangarov introduced himself and spoke on topics related to his extensive experience and expertise. The participants had the opportunity to ask numerous topical questions on the pressing issues of the day related to healthcare and the social environment.
